Alles Was Gesungen Wird, Zählt Doppelt
As part of their curatorial expedition, ROADSHOW, in Autumn 2022, espace libre directors Beth Dillon and Vera Trachsel visited Somlagors74, an independent cultural initiative in Tschlin (GR) run by Curdin Tones. As a trace of this encounter, Tones lent them the former telephone box of the village of Tschlin, which was then installed on the wall of espace libre as a Somalgors74 satellite space. During last winter, visitors and passersby could pick up the phone earpiece and listen to recordings of a local children's choir singing Christmas songs in Romansch recorded during the pandemic.
From July 2023 - January 2024, the phone box hosts a series of sound pieces by Simon Keizer, recent artist-in-residence at Somalgors74. His project "Alles Was Gesungen Wird, Zählt Doppelt" explores the phenomenon of the Alpsegen - an evening singing practice unique to certain Alpine regions.

About Simon Keizer
Simon Keizer explores the connection between humans and the natural world. His work explores the relationship between bodies and other living entities, highlighting the interconnectedness of all things and the importance of recognizing our place within a larger ecosystem.
By using materials like clay, wood, and wool and his own body and voice, he bridges the gap between the human and non-human, fostering a deeper understanding of their interconnectedness. Keizer sees nature as both a physical landscape and a spiritual realm.

In connection with the community of Tschlin, SOMALGORS74 defines itself as platform for cultural projects and exchange. As an initiative SOMALGORS74 wants to emphasize that one can act as a human being from a fullness, to contribute with and through this abundance to a community.
Since summer 2016, take place in cooperation with residents of the village or single-handed.

Dans le cadre de leur expédition curatoriale ROADSHOW, à l'automne 2022, les curatrices d'espace libre Beth Dillon et Vera Trachsel ont rendu visite à Somlagors74, une initiative culturelle indépendante à Tschlin (GR) dirigée par Curdin Tones. Comme trace de cette rencontre, Tones leur a prêté l'ancienne cabine téléphonique du village de Tschlin, qui a ensuite été installée sur le mur d'espace libre en tant qu'espace satellite de Somalgors74. Durant l'hiver dernier, les visiteurs.ses et les passant.es pouvaient décrocher l'écouteur du téléphone et écouter les enregistrements d'un chœur d'enfants local chantant des chansons de Noël en romanche, enregistrés pendant la pandémie.
De juillet 2023 à janvier 2024, la cabine téléphonique accueille une série de pièces sonores de Simon Keizer, récemment artiste en résidence à Somalgors74. Son projet "Alles Was Gesungen Wird, Zählt Doppelt" explore le phénomène de l'Alpsegen - une pratique de chant du soir propre à certaines régions alpines.

Im Rahmen ihrer kuratorischen Expedition ROADSHOW besuchten die Direktorinnen von espace libre, Beth Dillon und Vera Trachsel, im Herbst 2022 Somlagors74, eine unabhängige Kulturinitiative in Tschlin (GR), die von Curdin Tones geleitet wird. Als Spur dieser Begegnung lieh Tones ihnen die ehemalige Telefonzelle des Dorfes Tschlin, die dann an der Wand des espace libre als Satellitenraum von Somlagors74 installiert wurde. Im letzten Winter konnten Besucher:innen und Passanten:innen den Telefonhörer abnehmen und Aufnahmen eines lokalen Kinderchors hören, der während der Pandemie Weihnachtslieder in Rätoromanisch sang.
Von Juli 2023 bis Januar 2024 beherbergt die Telefonzelle eine Reihe von Soundpieces von Simon Keizer, der kürzlich Artist-in-Residence bei Somalgors74 war. Sein Projekt "Alles Was Gesungen Wird, Zählt Doppelt" erforscht das Phänomen des Alpsegens - eine abendliche Gesangspraxis, die in bestimmten Alpenregionen einzigartig ist.

Über Simon Keizer
Simon Keizer erforscht die Verbindung zwischen dem Menschen und der natürlichen Welt. In seiner Arbeit untersucht er die Beziehung zwischen Körpern und anderen Lebewesen, wobei er die Verbundenheit aller Dinge untereinander und die Bedeutung unseres Platzes innerhalb eines größeren Ökosystems hervorhebt.

SOMALGORS74 ist eine unabhängige Initiative, die sich für Prozesse der Mitgestaltung einsetzt. Unsere Projekte und Aktivitäten befassen sich mit dem Dorf, der alpinen Umgebung und ihrer Gegenwart, Vergangenheit und Zukunft.
Als unabhängige Kulturinitiative beschäftigt sich SOMALGORS74 seit 2016 mit
gemeinschaftlichen Schaffensprozessen. Alle Aktivitäten haben zum Ziel sich künstlerisch mit bedeutungsvollen Themen und Inhalten auseinanderzusetzen, welche einen spezifischen Bezug zum Dorf, seinem Umfeld, seiner Vergangenheit und Zukunft
haben.
Durch die Verbindung mit der Gemeinschaft in Tschlin versteht sich SOMALGORS74 als Plattform für Austausch und initiiert lokal kulturelle Projekte sowohl im Haus als auch im öffentlichen Raum. Als Initiative will SOMALGORS74 hervorheben, dass man als Mensch aus einer Fülle an Wahrnehmungen und Gedanken handeln kann. Im Wechselspiel wird die Gemeinschaft wiederum durch ebendiese Fülle bereichert.
Seit Sommer 2016 finden in Zusammenarbeit mit Bewohnern des Dorfes oder im Alleingang kulturellen Aktivitäten statt.
